My 2021 Annual Review
365.25 days is one Earth orbit around the sun. We pack a lot of significance in this milestone. It's our way to give time structure.
A lot of stuff happens during a single year. Why not pause and reflect?
I am a big fan of annual reviews. This will be my third year writing one up. Most people don't do a review for a couple of reasons.
It seems daunting
They don't remember what happened.
They forget to do one at the end/start of a year.
Let me free you of all these assumptions.
All you need is a few structured questions, a source for looking back at the past 12 months, and 45 minutes.
I ask myself these 6 questions.
What went well?
What challenged me?
What fear held me back?
What habits/routines did I work on?
What did I discover about myself?
What did I wish I did more of? Less of?
Before answering, it's good to remember what happened. The best source of this is your calendar and/or journal.
Keep it simple and browse quickly through entries and events and see what comes up. Using your memory of big life events is another way of getting context to answer the questions.
Lastly, don't put it on yourself to get this done before the end of the year. It can be the start of 2022 or whenever you feel like it. Time never stops. A year is just a unit of time. That's it.
Temptation Bundle Update
As I mentioned in my last issue, I am doing a temptation bundle of Youtube + Stairmaster at the gym.
It's been effortless. I have logged in 10 Stairmaster workouts on my apple watch for the month of December. That is 4 hrs and 26 minutes of watching YouTube :)
As always, thank you for reading. Happy new year!
How'd you like it? Feedback is always welcomed, just hit reply. I answer every email.
